UnCool Car of The Month

But I spents 6 grand on all this cool stuff and my car doesn't drive like it used to...

Usually I do a cool car of the month. This month we’re doing something different. The UnCool car of the month.  This months UnCool car of the month is a 2009 Mercedes C300.

It has just been lowered (ruined) and had 19″ Mercedes AMG wheels with Dunlop tires installed. That’s about 4K worth of tires and wheels.  No, I didn’t lower it. I fix cars not ruin them.

Usually after all this crap is installed, the poor soul who owns it is told to go get an alignment and that will fix any and all ills that have crept up after the “upgrade”. Sarcasm intended.  I always find it interesting that the people who sell that crap and install it never own an alignment rack.

Guess what? Your $50,000 crap mobile doesn’t even come with simple camber caster adjustments to set the wheel alignment. That’s right, your crap mobile now pulls right and there isn’t a darn thing that can be done about it. Except buy a Lexus.

Mercedes used to make all of their cars fully adjustable when it came to wheel alignment. Not anymore. Totally arrogant (ignorant) engineering.  Too bad, they used to be a great car. Not anymore.  Should’ve bought a Lexus…

Thankfully I almost never work on these anymore just for the very reasons I mentioned above. I only agreed to look at this one because a supplier of mine’s delivery driver owns it. Obviously I’m in the wrong job…

Ferrari F430 Is Our January Cool Car Of The Month

Cool car of the month is this Ferrari F430 that was in a while back to have the brakes bled.

While I don’t talk about the brakes, that’s what it was here for. In the video I mention the car has Goodyear tires and that Michelin PS2′s are the way to go.

2011Cool Car Of The Year

This months cool car of the month winner is so over the top we’re awarding it the COOL CAR OF THE YEAR award.  This 38 Chevy belongs to Eric and Sue Draughon.  It took Eric 4 years of blood, sweat and bucket loads of cash to build this car. Though I don’t think the word car is really appropriate in this case.

It’s really a piece of art work. It’s very rare that street rods evoke this kind of emotion in me. You see them and they look nice, but they don’t have the “it” factor. And what I mean by “it” is they don’t evoke emotion. They’re just another pretty face. This car evokes emotion. I guarantee it.

Take for instance the flame job. Notice the skulls in the flames? Holy crap! Some famous air brush guy from Australia and Eric sat on a bucket with a bottle of whiskey and an airbrush gun for days until this master piece was painted. Amazing. See, alcohol does have it’s uses.

I’ve worked on some of the most exotic cars ever built with a career spanning over 30 years. This is one of my favorites. Enjoy.

September Cool Car Of The Month | Plymouth Prowler

According to Wikipedia there was only 11,702  Plymouth Prowlers ever built from 1997 to 2002.  There are at least 2 of them here on the island. We recently did a 4 wheel alignment on this one.

I know I’m a little behind on my cool car of the month photos. We’ve just been slammed with work the last few weeks and finally seem to be caught up.

This 67 Nova is owned by local shop owner Edwin Gaspar of Japanese Auto Works. He came by to see when we could line it up. It’s a very cool car, small block, 4 link in the rear, coil over front end. Nice.

February Cool Car

2004 Dodge Viper pushing over 600 horsepower is our February cool car of the month. It’s here to get it’s alignment straightened out after being turned away from the local Dodge dealer Kona Auto Center due to a lack of tooling.

Notice the big bad super charger in the right front corner? And it all fits nicely under the hood for a nice clean line.

Jan. 2011 Cool Car Of The Month

This is a 66 Chevy Nova with a 572 big block.  You’re probably looking at a cost of about 100k to build a similar car.

To make up for missing the December car, I’m throwing in an extra photo with this month’s car showing the motor. Not everyday you see a $18,000 engine in a street car.

November Cool Car Of The Month

Last months cool car was a 55 Chevy.  Working our way towards the future, this months cool car is a 57 Chevy.
