Maintaining and repairing today’s modern vehicles requires the latest repair information. For example, in the old days there was only about 3 oil viscosity’s for 99% of the vehicles on the road.
Today there are about a dozen different viscosity’s just off the top of my head and if you put the wrong oil in, you might blow up the engine. So we look up the proper oil viscosity on every oil change we do. Same goes for transmissions and differentials too. And let’s not forget coolant systems.
We use what is called Alldata to look up all the factory information that we need to service your vehicle properly to factory specs. It costs us $170 per month just for this information. It’s a complete online library with every single page of factory information available to the public. So we use the same information to service your vehicle as the dealer does, except we cost less.
If you like to tinker with your vehicle or do all of your own work, I’ll tell you how to get the same info we use but for $26.95. You can buy a single subscription for 1 vehicle model. So let’s say you have a 2005 Dodge Ram, you can get the same exact info I get for $26.95! Once upon a time I use to do it this way myself.
